About the Speaker
Dr. Launette RiebDr. Launette Rieb, MD, MSc, CCFP(AM), FCFP, DABAM is a Family Physician and Clinical Associate Professor in the Department of Family Practice at the University of British Columbia. She is a diplomat of the American Board of Addiction Medicine and holds a Certificate of Added Competency in Addiction Medicine from the Canadian College of Family Physicians. Her research areas include opioid withdrawal-associated injury site pain, and addiction in marginalized populations. Dr. Rieb is currently the Medical Director of a multidisciplinary pain rehabilitation team at CBI Health Centre. In addition, she works as a consultant for the Rapid Access Addictions Clinic at St. Paul’s Hospital, and the Orchard Recovery Centre. She was the co-creator and initial Physician Director of the province’s first Addiction Medicine Fellowship, as well as contributed to the establishment of the first Pain Medicine Fellowship. Dr. Rieb lectures internationally and is the recipient of a UBC Post Graduate Teaching Award and the 2019 BC College of Family Physician’s Exceptional Teacher Honour. About the Moderators |
Dr. Valerie PrimeauValerie Primeau, MD, FRCPC is a bilingual psychiatrist in North Bay. She has been actively involved in the treatment of concurrent disorders. She assisted in the implementation of medically supervised withdrawal management beds at the North Bay Regional Health Centre (NBRHC) acute inpatient psychiatry unit, and is the physician lead for the rural implementation of the Centre for Addiction and Mental Health (CAMH) Integrated Care Pathway on alcohol use disorder and depression. Most recently, she has been appointed the physician lead for the implementation of a Rapid Access Addiction Medicine (RAAM) clinic at the Community Counselling Centre of Nipissing. She currently sits on the Health Quality Ontario Alcohol Use Disorder Quality Standard Advisory Committee and is helping revise the Withdrawal Management Standards with Addictions and Mental Health Ontario. She is highly involved in resident education and is currently the North Bay Site Director, Psychotherapy Coordinator and Academic Coordinator for the Northern Ontario School of Medicine (NOSM) Psychiatry Residency Program. |
Dr. Angela HoDr Angela Ho completed her medical training and psychiatry residency at the University of Toronto. She currently works with an intensive case management team serving marginally-housed individuals with severe mental illness and substance use disorders. She also provides couples therapy and teaches on Family and Couples therapy as a Lecturer with the Department of Psychiatry. As a member of the Ontario Telemedicine Network, she provides indirect psychiatric consultation. She is a Council Member of the Ontario Psychiatric Association and is affiliated with Inner City Health Associates, St Michael’s Hospital, and Mount Sinai Hospital. She previously worked at the University of Toronto Health & Wellness Student Health Centre and East End Community Health Centre. |
