Psychiatrist: Full-Time
Bluewater Health is seeking a Psychiatrist committed to delivering high-quality care for hospital patients and Sarnia-Lambton residents.
Locum arrangements can be supported to enable interested candidates to assess clinical fit and practice environment at Bluewater Health, exploring both professional practice and community life in Sarnia–Lambton, before transitioning to full-time privileges.
Position Highlights & Compensation
- Schedule 1 Facility with inpatient adult and adolescent psychiatry unit
- 3-bed Child & Adolescent Mental Health Service supported by a community-based youth centre
- 24-bed Adult Unit with 4 seclusion rooms
- Fully furnished office with administrative and billing support provided (no overhead)
- Call coverage shared within the department, significantly minimized by dedicated Psychiatry Assessment Nurses (PANs)
- Outpatient psychiatry clinics with dedicated administrative support
- All inpatient and outpatient hospital services are located within the same building, supporting excellent continuity of care
- Leading time-to-inpatient bed performance in Ontario
- Attractive relocation and signing incentives
- Remuneration is fee-for-service plus on call stipend
- Eligible for a clinical faculty appointment with Schulich School of Medicine & Dentistry, Western University

- Assertive Community Treatment (ACT)
- Repetitive Transcranial Magnetic Stimulation (rTMS)
- Ontario Telemedicine Network (OTN) Community Treatment Orders (CTO)
- Psychogeriatrics
- Electroconvulsive Therapy (ECT)
- Eating Disorders Program (child and youth)
- Addiction programming for adults and youth (substance use and gambling)
- Community Addiction Support Services (CASS), Acute Withdrawal Management Bedded Service (AWMBS), Stabilization Services and Transitional Recovery Bedded Service for expanded length of stay.
- Collaborative partnerships with Youth Wellness Hubs Ontario (YWHO), Community Health Integrated Care (CHIC), MobileCare, Hart Hub Drop-In, Kettle & Stony Point First Nation
Ideal Qualifications
- Experience in Paediatric Psychiatry is desirable
- Fellow of the Royal College of Physicians and Surgeons of Canada or equivalent in Psychiatry
- Eligible for an independent license with the College of Physicians & Surgeons of Ontario (CPSO)
- Canadian Citizen or Permanent Resident
- Interest in training medical students and residents
- Committed to service excellence, with strong interpersonal and collaborative skills
